Unearthly Challenge is creeping up, let's get inspired -
07-28-2009, 04:19 PM
Please use this thread to post links to VIDEOGAME environments you've found recently that either inspire you or may inspire others. I'll start with a couple of gem's found @ CGTalk:
Both are from Unreal 3.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but I was hoping to see some videogame-made environments. The hope being people see them, get inspired, and wonder how they were achieved. Hopefully learning something along the way.
I suppose the higher-res stuff is good too as it'll have people wondering how they can achieve those environments with game limitations.
Bah ignore me, I'm thinking aloud.

Well, the first one I posted is concept art, the second one is Unreal3, and the last was high-res. So I thought it was a nice mix of everything.

Those UT shots are awesome, thanks for posting. Can't think of a more painterly scene i've ever seen in UT3. Shows how far a few good floral assets can take your scene.

I like seeing some nicely detailed concept art, alot of the enviro concepts I see around the net look like 15 minutes speedpaints

Adam: I like how the scenes you posted were inspired by classic paintings. In fact, they're much more pleasant to look at. Inspiring. I may have to actually join this year's challenge.

Ha. I loved the "eh?" True Canadian.
Yea but HL2 times a million. Its too bad this game has taken forever and a year to release.
As for this unearthly challenge. I checked the website, they don't give much info on the actual challenge. What is it all about? Environment art?

You basically team up with some guys to design and build a real-time spec scene.
