hey all! this is gonna keep me drawing, great idea.

i've been on a cyclops kick recently, here's one now, during lunch about 35 mins in sketchbook pro.

I really like the sense of style and character you've conveyed in your drawings. But on the second piece, I think your placement of the feet kills the 3D illusion you've established with the upper body. Can't really judge you too much on that though, I'm guilty of doing the same thing. Just keep practicing I guess.

Also, this is most likely just personal stylistic preference, but I'm not a fan of thick outlines. I like rendering form through shading and value - shows you have a clear sense of dimension and how far away something is depending on the value of the shadows you use. In contrast, I feel that the outlines flatten out an image. Do you have any life drawing samples to post up here?

Just a few minor critiques there. Still, the fact that these took you an hour tops speaks volumes for your capability. Great stuff!

thanks pangarang, great critiques. i really appreciate it when i get some good pointers from an already established 2d and 3d artist.

as for life drawings i got a pile but am to brutally lazy to scan them in and crop them so they aren't so obnoxiously massive.

i'm going to take what you said with the shading as opposed to my ham-handed outlining and see what comes up.

heres a zombie viking vulture feeder guy. this took me a while cause i did like 5 re-fining layers (still came out looking rough as all hell) but a good learning experience. all in alias sketchbook pro.

during lunch, 20 mins in alias sketchbook pro. i think i'm gonna take this idea further. a pirate with crappy depth perception needs as many pistols as he could uncomfortably carry in order to make up for his handicap.

I'd like to chime in and say jouste sits beside me at work and these concepts roughly take him 2.7 seconds each to make.

i really appreciate it when i get some good pointers from an already established 2d and 3d artist.

If by "established 2D and 3D artist" you mean a fresh game school graduate waiting tirelessly for the main door of the game industry to open so he can stick his foot in, then I'm your man!

I think the zombie viking looks great. Took it into photoshop and filled the bg with gray and the silhouette looks good too. The pirate's legs, a little hard to make out what he's wearing there. Kinda looks like a loincloth at first glance, or maybe a sash, or that thing Chun Li wears over her crotchal region. Whatever it is, doesn't really go with the upper body (which looks great, silhouette, pose, and all).

jouste
04-17-2008, 02:33 PM
hey pang, thanks for the feedback on my sketches. the bottom part on the pirate was just some stray scribbles so i really wasn't going for anything in particular. i probably should have either been more lazy than i currently am and not drawing anything.

and i didn't mean to make you uncomfortable by saying "established" i was meaning that you got your stuff together online in a portfolio which is more than i could ever really say for myself.

this took the majority of my lunch hour. its like a lizard guy thats swarming with poisonous frogs that hop around and kill guys. the blades are like drenched in dimensional venom and totally blow living things apart.

about an hour and 10 mins in alias sketchbook pro

I love the amount of movement you work into your shapes... good line weight and flow. Great examples of speed-paint concepting, I could see any of them being fleshed out into great characters or scenes.

jouste
04-18-2008, 06:39 PM
thanks for the feedback ferg. i'm pretty much notoriously never done anything. which has severely neutered any idea of a portfolio or anything.

i think its because i find polishing not fun at all. after i get the rough idea and people get what i wanted to get across i figure i'm all done and move onto something else.

heres an hour in sketchbook pro. its like a hunter kinda guy who uses a demon's antler on the end of his rifle to channel wicked awesome powers. and that bird is totally telling the guy how it is... in bird speak.

@ bobo:
duuuude you are seriously like my favorite character modeler! i'm not even lying. the stuff that you did for titan quest was really great and you bring a lot of style into your models. truly inspiring stuff. so thanks for checking out my scribbles!

here's a bogey-mage. ad his mount. the idea is that he casts out all these ghost lures (the little crystal things) and catches em up and stores em for magic. he's launching some ghost bats at the moment and his mount is looking none too impressed. i'm actually pretty happy with some of the details and may do up another pass along with some character model type stuff.

i'm kinda partial to drawing casters and junk cause they can dress like total jack-asses and still tear you in half with a bunch of goofy gestures and magics. i find that you can keep them looking deadly without locking them down with a bunch of crazy weapons and armor (although i love those too).

a little longer than i would have liked,; about 2 hours in alias sketchbook pro with the talking heads in the background.

I know i'm probably sounding like a fanboy right now, but really - your concepts are just WOW. The only thing I can really pick apart is your execution, which is pretty darn solid. But I think it'd be cool to see other kinds of drawing that you can do too, different styles like realism, or some of your completed images too. What you've shown here is quite impressive but they all seem to be at the similar levels of completion.

But yeah, keep up the good stuff!

jouste
04-21-2008, 07:08 PM
@pang:
thanks for the boost there man, and you're right, my stuff all looks the same at the moment, but currently i'm just trying to get one new image on here a day to keep me drawing. next week (after hopefully seven more images) i'm gonna pick one that's gotten a little more attention than others i'm gonna take it further. and believe me, i'm taking what you're saying to heart, i need to work on my realism and finished concepts as well as these crashy rough ones.

onto the sketch! i really liked the idea of a lizard centaur thing like in my sketch a couple of posts ago, so i did another one, and i like the idea of him being an awesome sharpshooter. i gave him 4 arms so he can do the single round re-load faster and like gun-juggle between 2 rifles.

so this guy is like escaping from these dog things that have "pur-evil" (thers an oomla thing above the "U")backpacks on that jack straight into their brain and make them meaner than anything i could ever draw in RL. they have been hunting our lizardy friend with the ferocity of ten million raccoons at a garbage dump.

and for those people who are gonna come down on me for "ptchow" and "biff" not being viable ballistic sounds; they totally shouldn't because they totally are.

about an hour and a few minutes in alias sketchbook pro, my crash-artist weapon of choice

Repeating the above by saying your characters have allot of style. Conveying an emotion in drawling is hard for me but it seems as tho you have got the gift. Nice stuff look forward to more sketchy sketches! Dmn 30min or less I need practice this.

oh, certainly no hate'n on 'ptchow!' and 'biff!' from this guy. Reminds me of Waterson. The commentary, not so much in style. I like the style though. The mount for the bogey mage is cool, the trunks remind me of Gagne's Insanely Twisted Rabbits. (must be the twistiness)

Well, keep on biff'n and ptchowin for sure!

chiz chigga pang! wick! wickity-wickle! runk! (apparently, I don't have the touch)

@slingshot:
yeah dude just keep grinding out the drawings. i find that sketch swapping really helps get a few images blasted out. i did a few with some friends a while back and would like to maybe get something like that going here.

@rusty:
thanks for the boost man always good to hear that people read my stuff ;D

@eric:
i must thank you kind sir for directing me too mr. gagne. i've seen some of his stuff before but now i got his name down thanks to you! and i also dug you're face wing angel thing guy. quite the cool beans.

onto today's sketch: about 45mins over the course of a few sessions (gotta get some tf2 in there somewhere...) i drew "knot-head the stumper". he's this guy that's a tree that carries a big axe thats used to take down anybody who doesn't check out this thread.

knot-head also is infested with a variety of totally awesome woodland critters like the adorable birds that made a nest in his face and the alfred the confused squirrel, who can't quite figure out why his home in never where he left it last.

again i pulled a little inspiration from that dimensional venom lizard centaur post (holy crap, i'm such a no-talent hack i actually hack myself) and decided to have some small cool animals that live inside the guy as opposed to swarming all over him.

i thought it would be really funny to have some goofy looking warrior cleaving the hell out of everything while a variety of tree animals hold on for dear life or throw acorns at enemies or something i don't know...

@jaco: tanks for the boost ;D

so its a little later than i usually post, but heres one of my favorite characters i've continued to draw.

he's the sluggernaught, an unstoppable mound of mucusy mayhem. he lashes various things to his giant club (including one poor S.O.B that's still breathing) in order to make it more awesome and deadly.

i like the idea of something being so slug like and mega strong that a ballista could blow a hole through him and he would just bellow and keep coming at you with a bunch of gnarly chaotic weaponry. he keeps getting more and more sloppy and gross. eventually i'll do something thats a little more complete so i can call this goofy bastard done.

04-25-2008, 02:28 PM
hey all, a quick one i did at lunch. took me a bit to get started so around 25mins. more of just an idea. i think if a mage was also in an awesome robot body we would be a true force to be reckoned with. his head's made out of a crystal ball and his socket arm ala mega-man can flip out wands and other magic stuff. that's a series of batteries on his back because that's as far as my understanding of the inner workings of a robot goes.

again in sketchbook pro. hoping to make my pick of sketch this weekend to take to a moderately "finished" piece.

@GsKanible: thanks for the boost man ;D

@MoP: dude i know you probably get it in piles but your lizard guy was soooo awesome. i love lizardmen and your model reinforced my love for the coldblooded cretins. thanks for dropping by!

here's snailor the salt-shooter, scourge of the slugmen. i got a bit of a character sheet for the sluggernaut and wanted to do another snail kinda guy. and bows are pretty cool along with spiky shells.

snailor is also an avid pigeoner, kinda like a falconer but less deadly and more annoying.

i'll get up the sluggernaut character sheet later on today as i have been slacking off a little to much recently on the drawing side of things :{.

this took me about 25mins in sketchbook pro.

@brome: glad it brought some sunshine to your day. as i'm writing this you are most likely playing gta4... at home... on a tuesday... you giant jerk...

@slingshot:
you know i find it funny that you said that about the salt screwing him up. we carry around guns and crap that can hurt us all the time and nobody ever says, "oh man, what if he shoots his own foot off!" thanks for the boost tho man ;D.

so here's the 20 minute extravaganza known as "the headsman" me and a small group of people are tossing around the idea of a game where you pilot awesome pterodactyls ala joust and capture flags and frag enemies. anyways i started becoming obsessed with class systems because the beta for tf2 hit pc's everywhere and it was infecting my mind.

the heads man was a melee specialist that could chop off heads with an axe like an executioner. in another sketch i did of this guy he looks even more apathetic.

ever since i could dream about flying on a pterodactyl i've been dreaming about flying on a pterodactyl.

aw that's amazing! I love your style! and all the original -not too detailed but also not to sketchy- ideas you come up with!
great stuff man, looking forward to more!

jouste
04-30-2008, 02:23 PM
@Japhir: thanks for the boost man, after a quick glance at your page i noticed your wicked low-poly modeling abilities! cool stuff man. i really love the look of low-poly stuff and think it really shows an artists aptitude and efficiency.

so i just did up a second pass of the headsman because i feel that i needed to try tightening up some of my stuff. so here's another version of the headsman class for shivalry.

so here's the headsman sharpening his axe and taking a quick break from hardcore decapitation. he is wondering why the birds have taken a break on the face of his dactyl, the dactyl is mad, and fat. the charms on the tail of the pterodactyl are "guilt wards" to ward off any guilt the headsman may feel from killing foes.

since pterodactyls are so awesome i may do a few more sketches of the other classes before i dive into other things.

that being said i warn everyone that if they hate riding pterodactyls then should avoid the next few sketches. actually if you hate the idea of riding pterodactyls i think you have some pretty serious issues and should seek some help from a qualified professional.

GsKanible
04-30-2008, 02:56 PM
your slug archer is a good concept, but one minor detail is bothering me, and thats how he's holding his bow, the arrow traditionally rests on knuckles of hand holding the bow, for more accuracy, I find it awkward to hold it that way tho cause I'm left handed, I have the arrow rest on my extended thumb, and so far nothing bad has happened to make me want to hold it the other way. Compound bows now have some sort of contraption that holds the arrow steady now as well, lazy bastards.
Anyhow, like I said, just a small detail I happened to notice, nice idea :)

Slingshot
05-03-2008, 09:28 PM
ha ha a fat pterodactyl, sweet! I bet the headsman feeds the decapitated heads to his pet pterodactyl and that's why its fat.

Sit pterodactyl, now roll over and play dead good pterodactyl! here is a tasty decapitated head!

jouste
05-04-2008, 04:10 PM
@GsKanible:
well there goes any hope i have of becoming a professional archer drawer :{. thanks for the pointers on the bow and hand placement. i'll take that into consideration when i sketch up another bow guy.

@slingshot:
dude thats a really great idea! i'm gonna have to use that in the future when i draw these guys. like after a quick flying swipe the pterodactyl will loop around and gulp the head down. i never even thought of that thanks alot.

so i've been a little behind due too a buy weekend but i decided to do a heavily armored guy on a flying mount for the shivalry idea. he's like a legendary warrior and flies a dragon.

now i know what your gonna say. "hey jouste you unbelievable jackass, that's not a dragon, thats a crocodile with bird wings" well i am aware of that. and frankly i'm sick of dragons, but wanted some more flying reptiles so i decided to design my own dragon.

and before you crazy physics guys get on my ass about the amount of weight those wings are having to lift, let it be known that winged crocodiles are totally magical and awesome and eat the laws of physics for breakfast.

the dragon is holding a "reaper-bomb" that is used to raze enemy towers and bases. they're made out of a hodgepodge of leftover weapons and scrap iron and would totally ruin your day with a bunch of shrapnel.

this took a few hours in sketchbook and although its a little busy, its getting
closer to what i would like to start doing/

jouste

@japhnir: yeah dude i totally agree with you, i got too focused on details and didn't even realize how much my sillouette and readability bit it when i spent that much time on a sketch. oh well live and learn.

@kor: thanks for the boost man! i'm loving your sketchbook. some really great stuff. you're quite the demon with value.

so here's a rough of one of my older characters that i wanted to re-visit during lunch, her name is gill-o-tina and she's an octupussheadian, a race i totally just made up on the spot. so she's like your generic chick assassin except she can vomit ink all over you and totally gross you out (unless you're into that kind of thing).

i kept her belted up with knives and a sporty top. sometimes just succumbing to the basic human shape helps me rethink how awful some of my drawings truly are.

i tried to stay soft and loose so i could potentially take her a little further on a later date. again in alias sketchbook, around 45 mins in 2 sessions.

@slingshot: another great idea man, consider an electric eel whip in her arsenal for sure! you keep this up and i'll have to crack open your skull with an axe and take a look at what else is swimming around in there, good suggestions as always ;D

been a bit since i posted due to things beyond my power, but here's a quick attempt at adding some color to one of my images, i kept it pretty loose and wanted to warm up my line work.

so this is like another type of mounted guy, kind of my version of a manticore but more like a really really ugly lion with bat wings and like super venomous spines on his tail. that guy on top is totally using a magic weapon of some sorts that either barfs lightning or gives really embarrassing hair-cuts, i haven't decided yet.

i think my next few sketches are going to be a little more functional and on the conceptual side of drawing. kind of my favorite things to work on cause i get to draw those little arrows that point out notes and make it look like a way smarter drawing than i could have completed otherwise.

@Ged:
thanks for the boost, my coloring has got a loooooong way too go but i appreciated the comments thanks

@japhir:
on expressions: i figure all you need to do is get one expression down, do it over and over, on all your stuff, even the things with no eyebrows. this one expression will be used on every drawing you do and as long as you don't tell anyone you'll get away with it forever... wait... goddamnit...

so over my lunch (20 mins sketch 20 mins color) i drew up another mount, this one is pigasus the hell boar-n, the rider is wielding the fabled "ugly stick" of many jokes and insults of old. this flying boar is really bad ass cause he's been hit by a bunch of crap and is totally not caring.

i'm a fan of the tusks and the ratty vulture wings, again my colors need a loooong way to go but i feel that you gotta start somewhere, and what better place to start then a hacked together slop fest of chroma.

Thanks Thanks allot, now I am craving bacon. If the boar was real that man would need a ugly stick to keep me from turning his boar into bacon right now.

Only crit: The leg looks like it is floating tho, the brown part looks like the saddle because the guys arms have Grey cloth and the pants are not Grey too. Kind of deceiving.

@ericelwell:
actually its kind of a pet project i have going on with a really good friend of mine. initially its was going to be a simple game but now its leaning more towards a digital trading card game. which is awesome cause i love tcg's ;D

but get on drawing stuff right now if that's what your thinking about doing! if this stuff gets you going on something that'd be great! keep me posted on whats happening and maybe we could do a sketch trade or something.

and yeah i prefer simple shapes cause i'm not a very complicated person

@brome:
tanks for the boost dude, and as for my signature i've taken the liberty of noting it in a jpeg at the bottom of this post for those who are interested, like you apparently.

so i did another quick rider guy because i hate posting in here without an image regardless of quality.

so this guy's got the fabled "bee helm" basically a bee-hive with two eye holes cut out. with this helmet you get stung a bunch but can control bees and get access to as much honey as you want (i needed an edge over bio-shock). he's also wielding a sword (wow jouste... real original buddy...).

the mount is the winged crocodile from a few posts earlier. i'm pretty sure its going to go through a few more revisions until i'm happy with it. maybe i should start doing those conceptual drawings like i said i would.

anyways this took longer than i liked and i like less of it than my other ones, but that's alright cause i learned a lot and got to draw a beehive on some guy's head. and below is my signature broken down for those who give a flying pig.

jouste
05-16-2008, 02:57 AM
@aesir:
tanks for the boost man ;D, and i saw your stuff and i think you should totally do an awesome beast rider animation. you gotta do a decent gnashing animation. i swear to god there isn't enough good gnashing animations going around and you may be the person to fix that problem.

@slingshot:
damn right its a cigarette smoking shark, is there a problem?

@ericelwell:
for sure, it does make a strong fish skeleton. maybe... a little TOO strong...

so here's another mountable creature idea; yes, you guessed it, its randy the red-nosed pain-deer. these majestic ass-kickers fly without the aid of wings so they can totally punch the crap out of their foes.

and getting on the business end of those antlers will totally ruin your day, and pain-deer's are also notorious drunkards and are real jerks at parties.

the rider has got a fly-by slicer shield that can deal some mean damage as well as a bull whip.

i had fun drawing this guy and really wanted to keep the shapes simple on the mount because after it was noted by ericelwell i really found myself liking the process, plus it means i can barf some colors on it quicker and move on.

so it has been a bit since posting but there was things going on so i'll do better next time.

here is my version of a chimera, i skipped the lion head cause i got manticores so let's just say that the goat head ATE the lion head like a cannibalistic ozzy ozborne and chubbed up a bit. the snake tail is a great addition that keeps animals from chasing their own tails and looking like jackasses.

now the pain-apple-flail (aside from sounding like a delicious dessert) is adambrome fault. he said that if i didn't fit a flaming pineapple into my next post that he'd use his super admin powers and erase my existence on these forum's forever. (ed. note - you're lucky Jesse, I was this close || to banning your sorry ass) so i put it on a chain and called it a pain-apple (yeah i know i just posted the pain-deer but nobody ever said i was above stealing my own ideas).

so again i think i have gotten a good idea of what i want from my rider series and its time to move onto some more fleshed out core sketches instead of these weird attempts at color studies.

so i'll be posting more sketchier stuff up soon. this image was done in about an hour dancing between PS and sketchbook

@japhir:
tanks for the boost man. i'm hoping i can keep up the pace on these sketches and back too the "one a day" type of thing.

so here's jack asstronaught, one of my characters that's stuck with me for a while. he's in space (hence the space beer) and everyone in the universe has become a bounty hunter so it gets a little crazy.

i made him up cause i thought it would be funny if the universe could become stagnant and die if there wasn't anything going on to "mix it up". so the idea was that the universe picks some poor bastard that's doomed to be a crap magnet. like the worst things happen around this guy; cosmic storms, alien kidnappings, galactic wars, all seem to follow this guy around to keep the universe all stirred up and healthy.

enter jack-asstronaught; a donkonian weapon's runner. the most bad-ass smart-ass in the galaxy. he's got a cool magno-blaster as his main side arm, but he's using a typical ray-gun in this image. the attachment he's adding is a trans-dimensional disruptor, so when it disintegrates someone it takes out any copies of the victim in another parallel dimension free of charge.

so my space genre had a few more goofy guys like this that i may draw later on, they are a lot of fun to do and the stories i had going for them all involved some kind of super violence. and super violence as we all know is the only thing that separates us from the animals.

about 40mins in all

I love your shark signature I was not being a hater, just baffled that your signature was a shark.

Funny stuff.. the chimera and pain-apple-flail pic, I love the "ax head" you are putting on stuff, in odd places like the helmet and on the pic before that the shield. The guy with the ax helmet should be a chef when he is not jacking fools with food, using his helmet to cut vegetables.

jack asstronaught: make the laser gun be a pump laser gun. Like a Pump shotgun but with a laser :)

I agree with Adam Brome on the post above /\ /\

@adambrome:
the next step in these things will be a more polished approach. i never try to polish things to much because i find that i could never get anything done because i would need to keep iterating.

@slingshot:
good call, i'm all about chef warriors. and combining lasers and shotguns is probably going to be the greatest accomplishment of the human race. so good suggestion pal.

so here's another old character of mine i actually got some writing in on. he's lobstradomus, the warrior prophet.

after a pile of war and other crap, the earth got really hurtin'. mutants all over the place, even deities and gods got all screwed up looking. the world is ending and all hope is gone. enter lobstradomus, the lobstarian warrior prophet hailing from the toxic oceans. lobstradomus wields the left claw of his god and has forseen a healed world and is ready to fight his way too that premonition.

but basically he's a goofy looking lobsterman who wields a big claw-gun. he had a myriad of other characters, all equally strange and poetic. a little over the top but i always liked hyperbole when combined with lobstermen.

@japhir
thanks for the boost and i'll see about getting a character sheet of the guy up soon if you'd seriously like to take a bash at it. its aways awesome when your work gets more people stoked on working ;D.

so here is an idea i got from misspelling "motor-head" in an email once. so lets say that our scientists totally grafted nuclear engines onto genetically modified cattle because the idea is over-flowing with awesome. what could go wrong? perpetually eating, breeding cattle with the strength of of 12 robot man fighters? sounds pretty awesome to me.

but then DUN DUN DUNNNN!! something went horribly wrong! the herd became bigger and bigger! its atomic appetite consuming everything in their path! they took to space in search of more grazing grounds and use their huge reserves of energy to blast through the cosmos in a horrific swarm of bastardly bovine!

so its kind of crammed into my jack-asstronaught space genre but i think it would have to be a little more obscure to really work with a talking donkey spaceman, but we'll have to see.

i just drew one here, but you get the idea, they'd be pretty scary i figure. got this guy done over lunch (35mins) flipping from PS to alias sketchbook pro.

@japhir:
yeah dude i'll for sure see about getting a sheet up of him just for some reference at least. glad to hear your interested in the lobsterian warrior prophet!

@slingshot:
you got me dude, it has been to long. i've been jumping back into some attempted character work on the side and its left me with some really ugly character sheets and some geometry i'm trying to make into something reasonable. i'll get back on the lunch horse tho, i promise.

@slum:
thanks for the boost man, i do appreciate the nod to dynamic posing, i try and make up for my lack of fine art and completion for interesting poses and topics.

so i'm pretty mad at myself for not getting anything down in the last little while due to a few side projects and that blasted real life getting down my neck. but here is a character i created a while back with some great game designer friends of mine.

the premise is "escape from howlcatraz" a story where a whole pile of porcine prisoners are incarcerated on a horrible island that's policed by big bad wolves. there's a whole pile of different pigs but everyone of them is going to be very specialized in their skills. the pigs must co-operate and use these powers too escape the horrible clutches of the wolf guards, think "lost vikings" with a pile more guys.

a pretty simple idea that made me able to focus on very direct elements (spike for example takes care of the horizontal advancement of the group with a grappling harpoon). the idea started to take shape and soon enough i had an all-star line up of these goofy little pig-men.

the wolves are more of your A-typical nazi like goons that are generally faceless and heavy-handed. and howlcatraz is a very dark and nightmarish prison.

so yeah, it's a neat idea that allowed me to go all over the place and have fun. done over lunch (about 40 mins) alias sketchbook pro and some PS.

tanks for the boost. and i'm assuming your post was sung to the tune of vanilla ice's more famous pieces. i prefer "go ninja, go ninja, go" of ninja rap myself.

@slingshot:
good eye on the price tag slinger. yeah usually when i deal with really simple subject matter i tend to pick a favorite area and add a little something for people to look at and figure out.

@vig:
hey its that slick modeler vig! i really like your recent stuff in the sketchbook thread, yours is the kind of modeling i really take into consideration when working on my own stuff.

and i totally didn't realize how much i was pulling from the french resistance fighters of WW2 but after some quick looks into a few reference files i almost guffawed at how much i took from them. even the spear gun looks kinda like a sten (british i know, but easily acquired by partisans because of their mass production). so thanks for the plug as it made me take a dive through my older references.

and a dare on making a children's book! i'll have too look into that and see just how lucrative corrupting our youth with subliminal messages really is.

so here's another quick rider sketch, nothing too fancy i just hate posting in here with nothing to show.

after a series of still poses it was apparent that anything i do in the rider vein has to be moving and dynamic. i also decided to give myself bonus points if i managed to have one rider killing the other one brutally.

this particular rider is a hybrid of a warrior and master of the dark arts. so i guess that means he's not really a master of the dark arts, more like a dark arts hobbyist. he's sold himself out to some horrible deity and summoned a dreaded "psyclone" to ride from the twisted fields of the dark unknown! these creatures were once dimensional travelers seeking the universe's ultimate truths but after discovering a fraction of it they went so crazy they turned into these wierd bat things! doomed for eternity to be servants of an awful cthulhu like monster and those that worship him!

the rider has also just finished of some guy with a weapon kinda based off a kusari gama.

@slingshot:
i shall look into the children's book thing seeing as how you do indeed say it is lucrative.

so i decided to get a little more sci-fi and unleash the star-squatch! this fierce cosmic-ape man can wield the insanely heavy gravometric-orbliterator. we can see in the image below that his foe has been soundly smiten by the casual swing of this battle-lusted warrior, the idea came to me from remembering the old pen and paper RIFTS role playing game where you could be a modern day sasquatch that wielded lasers and stuff.

so i figured it would be cool to have like a cosmic-knights templar made up of space sasquatches. now you may say "jouste you moron, a sasquatch has big feet, what are you trying to pull here?" well to those people of little faith i say that sasquatch's blood is very dense and requires alot of zero-point energy and inter-planetary travel to be circulating in full force. terran sasquatches have had blood pooling in thier feet and has resulted in poor circulation to the more brainy parts of the beast; making them a dull-witted wood-ape.

in the cosmo's sasquatch are amongst the strongest and most revered entities on the galactic battlefield; wielding the very stars as thier weapons of cosmic justice!

so here's ragnarock-em sock-em, the dimensional puncher. this guy can punch through anything; i mean ANYTHING. this guy can punch through the fabric of time. he can punch into our dimension and punch you right out. he can punch-out your fear of heights then proceed to punch in your hopes and dreams of becoming a photographer.

and if you think this guy's insane punching powers are way to hard to comprehend just take a look at the guy; he needed to weld his brain in to keep it from exploding at the mere thought of time-punch theory.

time-punch theory is the theory that anything in the universe can be punched to drastically effect their outcomes. luckily ragnarock-em sock-em is more interested in finding the ultimate answer and punching it than punching our plans for the weekend.

@slingshot:
the mini novels are made after i draw guys usually cause i have a habit of drawing a lot of stupid things and i need to justify them pretty quickly before people expose me for the sham i am.
if my drawing is making more sense i usually start trying to figure out what's up story-wise with my guy in the first few scratches on the tablet, the rest is cake.

presenting the BIRDZERKER! a native of some crazy planet in some crazy tribe. the guy in the tree is the grand-balmer, these guys slather a disgusting cocktail of honey and pheromones over the warrior that attracts piles and piles of the local "agonizing-pain bees". the bees ruthlessly sting the birdzerker, accelerating its adrenaline glands to like 11, getting it all geared up to go birdzerk.

the mighty weapon the birdzerker is wielding is a bonezerker, (mainly named that because it's fun to say) these war glaives can smash like anything apart and are made from the petrified bones of an invincibird.

invincibirds are also awesome but i'll draw one later.

so it's been a bit since something new hit the book but here goes. the super awesome dental-kinetic! so he's like a regular bio-mancer that has chosen a focus on teeth. when bio-magi choose a school of power they become crazy awesome when using those particular parts.

so our bio-mage friend is launching a huge fang at the charging knight and it's totally going through his head at a crazy speed. the enamelmancer could of easily torn the teeth out of the guy's head and launched them back at him but the dragon fang missle was a way funnier image.

speaking of things that gouge here is a sloppy undead soldier i did up. his name is skeletony and he;s really exhausted because he's been killing guys for a really long time. his sword is totally magical and eats souls and stuff like stormbringer but it's draw back is that it always has to sit in the front row of a movie theater and that can get really annoying.

i went kind of for an art nouveau look and totally failed miserably, in fact the only thing the borders really did for my picture was give me a reasonable excuse to draw eyeballs and tentacles. either way this guy was fun to draw and the coloring was really intuative and reactive (which explains the total lack of cohesiveness and direction).

so her's flaps, flaps comes from this jungle kinda planet were there is like no way you could ever get a blacksmith or a lathe going. so in order for flaps to kick total ass he has to tear the extremely tough appendages off of the native creatures and use them as bludgeons and/or armor. flaps is currently arming himself with dual fore-claws of a razor-crab.

there's a lot of cool different ideas i had for armored animals that flaps would have to rip apart to get geared up from. like slaughter-mice and terror-worms and stuff like that. because with great hyphens come great monstrous hybrids.

flaps is named flaps because i had a lot of fun drawing his weird flaps of skin. plus having one syllable (1.5?) it carries the punch he needs to be pictured tearing apart a deadly crustacean.

hey all! so over lunch i sketched down a quick and dirty fire-based hero!
he's the igknighter! now what fire-based hero would be complete without a molten alien symbiont?not much of one i'll tell you right now.

igknighter channels the piles and piles of energy leaking out of the incredibly lazy salamander alien pictured groggily at the bottom right of the page. basically we could all be human hell-bombs if we had one of those things floating around in our system.

so the salamander supplies us with cool pyro powers, and we haul his lazy ass around and feed him occasionally, pretty good trade off if you ever wanted to fry something beyond recognition

so here's the brain-bandit! a brainian from some crazy planet far off in the galaxy. he harvests brains and networks them into his awesome brain suit to increase his synapse speeds!

currently he has defeated a mercenary in the sewers and extracted the man's brain with his surgical cerebellum-yanker-outer. the mercenary has a confused look on his face as he checks out the top half of his skull but sadly the brain bandit has gotten away with his prize.

the brain bandit is an older character of mine that i felt like updating. he initially was a human that collected brains and put them into slave devices and controlled them. i'd like to still keep that idea with this char because i always loved robotic crabs with brain jars all over them. if i remember correctly i named his ship the "relentless obscurity" because he was smart enough to know he was incurably insane.

so i did up a cool intergalactic sport called slaughter-ball, or pain-ball, or like kill-ball or something like that. any ways the goals are actually green washing machine style windows on really big and scary aliens. teams try to throw a spiked metal ball (pictured on the left) into the green window, killing the goal tender and scoring a point.

so the green star-sharks aren't doing to well in this picture. their point man got a bit roughed up a few moments ago and is being dragged around. his flanker also dropped his knife and is totally getting out of there.

the goaltender's rarely get scored on but the audience never cares as there's plenty of violence to take their mind off the silly rules. the knife that number 4 was wielding can be seen on youtube fighting a watermelon if you simply click the image.

so i took slingshots suggestion (and a few more of you guys that say i should work on something longer) and i came up with a combo drawing.

behold mortals! molluskus the high shell-guard! wielding the hand of death he has squashed a puny human with a casual step!

snaliens like molluskus grow outwards from thier heavilly armored shell, the only vital organ that really follows them is thier eyeballs and some brain, the rest is housed in that super dense shell on thier rump. the main composision of the snailien is super thick dyna-muscles. dyna muscles are superawesome and can take an insane amount of punishment.

so this took a while cause of all that crazy garbage all over place, i learned quite a bit about myself and look forward to moving onto something new.

only crit make some of the shadow areas darker to make it pop more, looks a little flat tho because the detail areas are the same dark line color as the darkest areas on the body.

so i only had 15 mins at lunch so this picture isnt that detailed. its a pouncer-beast! the standard transmogrification of prisoners by polymorphomancers. this character used to be a brave knight who stormed into the wrong dungeon and totally got captured by these wierdos.

the polymorphomancers' process sends the poor bastard through a few phases of transformation. the first state is the pouncer, thier intellect is getting slowly smothered by a more bestial mentality. the pouncer acts like a disobediant dog but can take a few orders and do simple tasks like get the newspaper and maul tresspassers.

so i did up two cactus guards on my recent favorite topic "crash planet". crash planet is a crazy planet with crazy gravity wells and magnetic mountains that suck in spaceships too thier doom. so the crazy different tribes on the planet see these burning meteors full of cool stuff as gifts from thier crazy blood gods. they make a big climb up the mountains to find some food and cool stuff!

so these are a rough design of some of the more simple minded tribes men when they are not feeling so vicious. one has found a few luminescent flutter-bys that has taken his attention while the other is getting curious as well.

i was thinking that these guys get bigger and stupider the more they eat. so its a vicious balance the high shamans have to maintain in order too have some competant guardsman. of course they do have like crazy tribal berzerkers called gorgers or something; that they keep feeding and feeding until they are these crazy behemoth killing machines that will totally shit all over your day.

the two guardsman are weilding stone-bones they knapped themselves with another sharper stone-bone. the only known substance to break a stone bone is another one. it's kind of like obsidian but more goofy sounding.

here is a tenacious fishdog named sloberella with her sharpshooting rider who just unloaded a few rounds from his auto-boltener into the face of his rival.

slobberella has also taken a chomp out of a nearby cactus to sate her voracious cactus addiction. the rider is based off my earlier "shivalry" ranged guy but i wanted to see how he'd look on a grounded mount with a silly face.

i think my favorite part about slobberella (besides her adorable name) is the spines on her rump. i'd figure they'd be pretty poisonous and totally ruin your day if one happened to impale you through the juglar.

here's tentaclese another wanderer on crash planet wielding a similar gravometric orblitorator that the noble star-squatches take into battle. he is made up of one crazy long space tentacle wrapped around itself to form a crazy body. he's also really strong and has a whole pile of eyeballs.

his pet is tekker the tech-hound. these are augmented dogs that sniff out technology and eat batteries and crap static-charge. they are used by the survivors on crash planet too sniff out working technology amidts the spaceship graveyard.

its always dangerous to rumage through the magnetic mountains because space-crafts are totally crashing there all the time and attracting more and more of the omnivourus locals.

thanks for the boost man, i'm going to try and get more technical with some of my fiction. i actually have a good friend of mine that tries to scientifically justify a lot of my ideas.

so i've been lame and haven't posted anything recently so i quickly threw this image together from some older art and a quick pass. its a picture of this guy who put on this totally badass helmet that is possessed by this crazy lightning and war deity. its totally infused his whole body and 2hnded mace and allowed him to decimate the three foes in front of him.

that goofy looking thing floating above him is an avatar of the helmet getting a good look at the swath of destruction his vessel is laying all over the other guys.

@konstruct:

thanks for the boost man, i love it when people get a kick outta my stuff. looking through your website i really liked your weapon work and vehicle stuff. nice and angular. keep up the good work man.

so there's a bit of a story behind this guy. ren (http://renalicious.smugmug.com/) a good friend and co-worker of mine thought up this guy like almost a year ago or something. i should have drawn him a lot earlier but i totally flaked out and never got around to drawing him. ren kept bugging me and bugging me, keeping the dream of the space-mage alive and kicking around in my head.

so here he is over lunch hour, the space mage. dual wielding wand chucks and flying on a meteor, probably something melf dreamed up. now wand-chucks are totally awesome, just imagine nun-chucks; with wands instead of wood. the amount of spells you could pull off at once, like that harry potter guy had like one and he did some stuff but imagine if he chained 4 together and wasn't a total pussy and went all bruce lee on somebody's ass.

so the space mage also has some teched out spell books that orbit around him and are controlled via brain circuitry implants and other crazy stuff. there's a lot of tech-magic hybridization going on in the picture like a bat winged-atomic propulsion pack and an antenna-boosted wizard hat.

i kept the palette simple again so i could get it done quicker. anyways here is the space-mage. thanks for your patience ren! (oh and ren's photo site has got some great shots, including a sweet black keys t-shirt containing an elusive jouste).

thanks for the boost man ;D yeah i'm a big fan of tekker as well. the thing is with his design you really only need half a dog to make him, which means you can make 2 tekkers out of 1 dog. talk about efficient cybernetics. and ass for tenteclese, i'm going to get a few character sheet type stuff up here for fun and after i get japhir's lobstradomus up i'll think about doing up tenteclese for fun as well.

so i've beeen dabbling lightly in steam punk and watching alot of videos on flourentine style swordsman ship so i thought i would whip up a quick steam-dualist.

i kept the detail mostly at his chest armor. he's also got a cool neckbrace to prevent whiplash when he's swinging into action. he also has a motor gun incase some foe tries to scamper away from his impecable fencing skills. as far as a quick sketch goes i'm pretty happy with it as it's got me thinking of other ways to execute the style of steam-punkery.

@sectaurs:
thanks for the props. and for the blood just search through the "splatter" section at cgtextures (http://www.cgtextures.com/). that's pretty much all i ever use cause i'm lazy and it's effective with a few layer style changes. as for my other brushes i could send you my list if you'd like. they're basically a select few from goros, that mike guy from gnomon and some other areas.

So a 45 minuter. its enslave-O the tall! enslave-o is an enslaver that can mentally enslave anyone who is shorter than him. and the guy stands at a pretty beefy 7'2. oh will noone tall enough liberate the poor folk doomed to forever mine the plateau of the mineral moons of j'ahdar? will noone help them?

the mineral moons are like totally chock full of really great minerals for building death-rays and microwaves and other of life's necessities. enslave-o gets the best return on his work force because they are enslaved.

i tried to push the saturation a little more than i typically do because my finger slipped on the slider and i was too lazy to undo.

@jerry:
thanks for the boost man! it always makes me feel good to know i cracked up somebody from the netherlands. and yes i am slowly finding that for people to dig my stuff i definitely need to justify it with a bit of story seeing as how they are pretty ridiculous.

so here's another quick one i worked on last night before crashing. it's rhine-awesomus the scourge of the galactic high templar! the devoted follower of jouste lore will notice the visors on his waistband as none-other than the fabled starsquatchian war visors! and whats this!? is that flail some kind of jury rigged grav-o-metric orbliterator? oh heavens!

so it appears that rhine-awesomus has defeated TWO starsquatches and used their visors as trophies and their weapons for himself. but between you and me he just took their stuff from them when they were in the shower or something because come on, starsquatches are awesome and no bully rhino-man with a cool name could ever defeat one of these (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_pvCGg_c3cdY/SKNmuvTmJJI/AAAAAAAAABQ/FJ5bKq-ou28/s1600-h/starsq_01.jpg) guys in a fair fight.

but fairness is over now, rhine-awesomus now as a neptunic-gravity smasher and is not afraid to kick some galactic high templar ass with it. his armor also sports tiny guns on the top that i wanted to name after those birds that sit on a rhino and eat dead skin or whatever, unfortunately searching google for "those tiny birds that sit on rhino's backs" left me alone and empty. his horns and fore-arm blades are made out of pure laser and are totally badass.

we can also see the saturnic stabilizers on the rhino-man's arm and the crackling energy slowly taking over the left side of his body, once that blueness closes into his core... he will be a really big pain in the ass too color.

always good too hear from you man, thanks for the good thoughts ! and i swear i'll post that character sheet up here fairly soon.

so over lunch i did up the perpetual martian machine! see there's this breed of martian that can fall in love with and procreate with machines. so this dude martian totally fell in love with this smoking hot perpetual motion machine and had a bunch of kids together that CANNOT BE STOPPED!!! so they go by the name "the perpetuals" or the "perpetual martian machine".

in the image below we see that frank has been discovered by his brother sam. frank has recently lost his body due to a well aimed blast from an alien cauterizer. we can see that frank's body has already started to grow back and continue going, he just needs a little help getting upright.

the main problem with perpetual existence is that you get really lazy and a lot of the perpetuals aren't really good at anything. oh there's the odd one that's a crack shot, or a slick pilot, but the majority are doofuses that get destroyed daily.

some races have even captured a few of them and use them for weapon's testing and target practice.

so another 30-40minute sketch. just a simple mermaid warrior and her barnacle dog barney. barnacle dogs are quite amphibious but can brave beach walkings from time too time. time enough for the man-eating mermaids to muster up a meal of men!

thanks for the boost dakk, and i'd be lying if i told you that i didn't like murlocs. anything deep-one-ish is cool stuff in my books.

@slingshot:
i partially agree with your statement on things "going wrong" with a busty mermaid. i can think of a few things that could go tragically wrong with a busty mermaid but i really wouldn't want to get into those while i'm this sober.

so over lunch i drew the inflamous hell bellies! these impish creatures have hardwired nuclear engines in their chests and use them to spew "smart-fire" over thier enemies. smart fire is like fire that can be specifically programmed (upon release) to burn specific matter. so you could set it too "cheerleader's clothes and "ignore cheerleader". kind of like an x-ray specs that melt off anything you don't want too see. (set it to burn flesh and not bones for example).

the left-most hell belly is riding a doom-goat. doom goats are really awesome cause they have "doom" in thier name, and no-one is really quite as cool as dr. doom.

the right-most hell belly is looking over his most recent project; an intergalactic defence officer decided to bother him with a raygun and is now a pile of melted goo fused disgustingly to bones.

08-25-2008, 03:24 PM
Aww I was hoping to see an example of this "smart-fire" on the cheerleader in your picture right after I was done reading.

jouste
08-26-2008, 11:59 PM
@slingshot:
hey there slingshot, yeah i actually keep the hooves and feet of a lot of my guys small to make it look like they could be more agile and "toon" them up a bit. i find beefy boots to look really limiting. and thanks for digging the backgrounds. its really quite easy to pull that effect off, just gotta snag some nice textures and play with the layer styles ;D.

so recently a few people i know saw some of my stuff and it was kind of unanimous that my old slaughter-ball (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/slaughterball_small.jpg?t=1219815843) image got the most laughs. so i decided to draw a few more "goals".

here's degg, degg is totally bat-shit crazy and has a tendency to eat opposing tumblers (tumblers are those little guys that are always trying to score on them, usually ALOT smaller and weaker). degg defends for the blue faction.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/slaughterball_01_sm.jpg

frankus hails from the red faction, his species appears to be blind but all the tiny hairs on his body are actually hyper sensative eyestalks. in the image above we can see him spitting; frankus' saliva is incredibly corrosive and has found its way onto many doomed players.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/slaughterball_02_sm.jpg

the last goal i drew was blue, playing on the blue faction. blue has a cybernetic right hand that is constantly malfunctioning because it's haunted. that doesn't make the hand any less deadly in the games cause as we can see in the rear view it has gone all laser on us and can totally ruin our day. blue's a little amphibian, but with the right medication he's managed to survive on land with a steady intake of liquids.

so its been a bit but here is some switch-fork imps straight from the bowels of hell, imbued with heck-nology! now before you go all crazy and start asking stupid questions like "hey jouste you handsome devil, what exactly IS heck-nology?" i'll fill you in. heck-nology is like technology, but from hell. a lot of smart guys and crazy guys probably ended up down there so there is some really cool technologies being invented.

primarily these war-imps are armed with the very effective switch-forks. the switch-fork on the left is in its closed position, useful for traveling and safety. the switch-fork on the right is deployed and ready to thwart foes and vaporize opposition.

so as it stands heaven's forces are a little behind because i can't rhyme anything heaven related with technology so for now the hecknologically advanced hellions shall reign supreme!

that little guy on top of the pizza shovel ( i've come too rely on sectaurs to correct my ) is not quite ready to unleash his sweet sweet vengeance upon the world but he is still super excited to be sentient!

i made up these guys as helpers for witches, gingerbread slaves and planks are made out of the demon stove there and the gingerbread houses are erected soon after! the only grim thing about the stoves is that they eat children! just like the crazy old witches in grimm's fairy tales, these stoves gain their power from eating children! so its been a bit but here's a quick character sheet for anyone to enjoy! it's degg the slaughterballer with a few notes and some rudimentary turn-arounds! we all now know that slaughterball goals are super hardcore and don't mess around, now an ambitious modeller can tackle this sheet and crank out thier very own slaughterballer!

hey all! glad to see so much awesome go down on those unearthly challenge threads. before i embrace my own little slice of that action i wanted to finish up another character for fun!

so here is a lizardian freedom-liberator. their blood is like the 4th greatest source of energy in the universe and they usually use it to fuel everything from their weapons to their ships. its like donating blood to your m-16.

in fact some of the bigger and more pushy races harvest these guys for their sweet sweet energized vitae and put them in horrible slave pens! it's up to this plucky individual and his saturnic-meteor projector to save his co-worker pals from the horrible camps!

good luck lizzardian freedom-liberator!

@warriah:
yes! a fan of the hell bellies! they didn't get to much love when i showed them around so its good to hear somebody digs em ;D.

so i know i need to get back on my UC stuff but before that i HAD to do some fan art. as you may or may not know, dan paladin is probably my favorite artist (sans comic book artists), i met him at last years comic convention and he cemented his role as my favorite with his demeanor and general kindness.

anyways behemoth's castle crashers has been the most fun i've had with a game for a looooooonnnnggg time. i love absolutely everything about it, i love behemoth and what they've put together and had to draw something inspired by them.

when i unlocked the barbarian character i knew i had a favorite dude. when i was wielding a crit-lobster, launching axes, and being followed by a bat that bites peoples' heads i pretty much needed to change my pants.

so a big thank you and congratulations to behemoth and their beat-em-up magnum opus!

so i did up another one cause they only take about 40 minutes. and i want to keep both my threads updated with new stuff. so here's another unlockable character, the peasant! wielding his trusty fishing rod and using the item snagging cardinal as his pet.

thanks again behemoth! /salute

@ jesterbox:
thanks for the compliment man, and i'm not sure why we don't have idea-cram technology yet. i think there will be an influx of greater ideas in games when big guys realize we don't need anymore space marines and special forces and could use some wackiness once in a while.

so sectuars did me up some sweet fan art of my starsquatch that was really awesome. thanks so much sectuars! in response i did up his awesome desert derp! hopefully i have done your awesome creature justice sectuars. i look forward too some more character trades in the future.

@konstruct:
thanks for the comments man, and you must know how to find time, i've been checking out your sketchbook and its looking great. keep up the good work.

so it has been a bit but here's some stuff! first off its a mounted warrior guy (much like my pigasus rider from way back) on top of a catfish mounting lizard. the lizard has landed on a fairy nest and killed a bunch of them. the fairy matriarch is scolding the clumsy beast for his klutzyness. and again the rider is wielding an ugly-stick.

and heres some more crasher fan art!
the royal guard and his giraffe sidekick:

Wow, you've got some pretty dynamic, imaginative work in here. Wonderful stuff!

Just to make you jealous: Dan once joined a OpenCanvas session between a friend and me. At that point, we just stopped doodling and let him go crazy. It was fantastic to see how quickly he bangs out these superb creatures, absolutely fantastic.

awesome mounted character, love the expression on the animal's face. the giraffe and kitty are very cute :D.
you should make something like a video tutorial, or just a little video of you doing your shit. would be inspiring to see how you start/add details/come up with stuff etc.
always looking forward to updates!

Hey Jouste, I have to say that character riding the lizard is one of my top 5 favorites out of all your sketches so far.

The giraffe one freaked me out at first tho, I thought the guy had cut a giraffe's head until I saw the stumpy feet, looks good tho.

@mightypea: that's an awesome story about you and dan p. totally jealous! thanks for checking out my stuff.

@josh_singh: thanks for the boost! and man is that ever crazy about the post count...

@japhir: yeah i've been looking into doing that kinda of stuff. my favorite thing to do is draw in front of people and incorporate thier ideas realtime so i think a video tutorial or "jam session" would be alot of fun to do. thanks for the comments.

@slingshot: top five? good to hear man. and yeah the animals are a little strange in appearance for anybody who hasn't played the game. they are these little orb-like animals that float around beside you and grant bonuses.

@b1ll: of course we should work together! lets get something going man, i love your characters. any ideas?

@spacemonkey: thanks for the boost!

@sub-roland: thanks for the comments, i always have aspired to have my own folder. the idea that i'm helping you get inspired is realy super awesome.

so here is a scaaary hellephant and his doom-rider. the helephant has twisted off the head of some poor bastard and is totally gonna shove it into its maw with its sinister dual trunks. this is a quick one i did over lunch.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/hellephant.jpg

and why the hell not post more castle crasher fan art?

here's the conehead character with spiny the lizard and the lightsaber weapon. here he's using his arrow magic.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/CC_conehead.jpg

and here's a fun one i did of the princess character. she never really fights or anythign so i made her wielding the morning star. the animal orb is the ever-helpful "mr.buddy" who helps you dig faster in the game

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/CC_princess01.jpg

and how about the evil cultist character? (assumed to be coming up in the next downloadable content) wielding the crit-club and flinging his dark magic. he's also got the troll as his pet.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg219/1_jouste/CC_cultist.jpg

so here's one of the bosses in castle crashers. the cyclops boss with his bad ass knife. for those of you who haven't seen the boss yet or who *gasp* don't own the cool game yet here's a shot of him.
http://castlecrashers.steam-punk.net/uploads/Enemies/cyclopsa.JPG

i took quite a few liberties on this guy as well but overall he was a blast to draw. the cyclops is easily one of my favorite bosses in the game. it took me back to when rocksteady came out and kicked the crap out of me in TMNT arcade.

that's not a problem. i think i'm up to something like 20 pieces of fan art so far. a few bosses shouldn't be too big of a deal. thanks for the boost man.

@hellmouth:
always great to hear from someone with good taste! ;P. yeah i think the perpetuals are a pretty neat idea as well. thanks alot for the feedback. whenever i see that an older idea gets some resonance i tend to re
